Love & Devotion By: Jove Belle *Giveaway*

Synopsis:
KC Hall loves her family, her small East Texas town, and her best friend, Emma Reynolds. All of that takes a backseat when her lover beckons. Lonnie is blond, beautiful, and willing. She’s also married and a lifelong friend of KC’s mama.

KC knows the affair is a bad idea, but she just can’t help herself. When presented with the lush landscape of Lonnie’s body, KC subscribes to the philosophy of “orgasm first, think later.” Unfortunately, a secret that big is impossible to keep in a close-knit community where everybody knows everybody else’s business. The scandal would hurt her entire family.

Emma is KC’s exception, the one woman she loves enough to not have sex with. When Emma confesses that she’s loved KC since high school, KC is terrified. One wrong move and she could lose Emma completely.

Is she willing to let her family pay the price for her good time? Or will she turn to Emma to discover the true meaning of love and devotion?

Author Bio:
Jove Belle was born and raised against a backdrop of orchards and potato fields. The youngest of four children, she was raised in a conservative, Christian home and began asking why at a very young age, much to the consternation of her mother and grandmother. At the customary age of eighteen, she fled southern Idaho in pursuit of broader minds and fewer traffic jams involving the local livestock. The road didn’t end in Portland, Oregon, but there were many confusing freeway interchanges that a girl from the sticks was ill-prepared to deal with. As a result, she has lived in the Portland metro area for over fifteen years and still can’t figure out how she manages to spend so much time in traffic when there’s not a stray sheep or cow in sight.

She lives with her partner of twelve years. Between them they share three children, two dogs, two cats, two mortgage payments, one sedan, and one requisite dyke pickup truck. One day she hopes to live in a house that doesn’t generate a never ending honey-do list.

Incidentally, she never stopped asking why, but did expand her arsenal of questions to include who, what, when, where and, most important of all, how. In those questions, a story is born.

I can't Resist....here's a Book Excerpt

The xx Concert

Leaning forward, resting my elbows on the bookcase, Ryan lowers himself next to me, and I instantly feel Jase’s protective hand on my back. Standing here, next to Ryan, we listen to The xx play an extended version of ‘Intro.’ The languid plucks of the guitar are soon interlaced with the ever thumping of the bass drum. The song begins to intensify into a fusion of haunting and seductive sounds. I push back off the bookcase while Ryan remains leaning on his elbows. I watch him. I shouldn’t be, but I am. His hair is a rich dark brown that falls slightly over his ears. He has a strong, well-defined jaw and a muscular frame that is evident through his dark grey shirt. Looking back at me over his shoulder, a small lock of his hair falls over his forehead. What am I doing? I take a step back as he pushes himself off the bookcase and looks at me. Turning around quickly to walk away, I run smack into Mark’s chest.
Tripping over my own feet, he catches me and asks, “Whoa, everything okay?”
“I wanna go,” I say softly so that no one can hear me but him.

My Review
*Thanks to the Author, for a Review Copy*

It's been a while for me, to feel so good about a book. Since March, I have not read a lot and have not written any reviews really, because of school, but I'm happy now to write a review of E.K. Blair's Debut Novel: Fading. By first reading the blurb, I felt that this was a different novel, one that was authentic, and something that would not remind me of another book, and yeah I was definitely right.

The writing, throughout the whole book just strung me along to read more, and honestly, the situations,  including the painful one that Candace goes through, seems so realistic. This story takes place in Washington, and Candace is about to start her senior year at college, with her best friends, Kimber and Jase. These two friends are her rock, especially Jase; they have been there for her, and have showed her a different kind of life, than the one she had been living with her wealthy self-involved parents. They do not approve Candace's choice of a dance major, but they don't get it, this is Candace's true passion; she loves and sometimes breathes ballet. Before the school semester starts she gives in and and goes out with a family friend's son, Jack. Candace doesn't do relationships, not since high school, where she had one relationship that... well ended too quickly in different ways. She's very hesitant to go on date with Jack, but she caves in and on their second or so date, a tragic event takes place....she's raped....by Jack. After this happens, her best friend Jase is there with her, helping her cope, for a couple months even, while he's balancing a relationship with his boyfriend, Mark. A few months go by and then Candace meets Ryan, a bar owner of a bar, that Mark's band plays at, and there is some instant chemistry between these two, but Candace just wants to be friends, but...for how long? I know by writing more about the story itself, I would definitely give a lot of way, but Ryan and Candace fall into a relationship that one day would be so hard to fall out of, so lastly, do they fall out of it? You are going to have to read for yourself :)

The story itself, again, was well written. There is a relationship that blooms here, but there is also a character that goes through something that is just so wrong and traumatic, and I definitely felt for Candace, for what she went through. I didn't mention it much in the paragraph before, but after Candace goes through this, she is first traumatized and doesn't want to be near others, because first she's embarrassed, but also because she feels she can't trust anyone, except Jase, who is a loyal friend, and I can't explain more, other than that he is constantly there for her, and without him, who knows how Candace would have been. I definitely think she grows as a character, and stands up to her parents even, and that took guts, but she takes back something that was taken from that awful night, and I just think you have to read this novel, to read for yourself of Candace's journey, and I'm so glad I did. I felt I can understand Candace's feelings of why she gets so emotional when something triggers, that makes her cry all of a sudden. She's an only child, and I know how that feels like, and when you have those core best friends like she has in Jase, tough situations in a way dissolve; it may not be fast but it does eventually.

Her nonexistent family life was relatable and her parents just reeked out awfulness and as I mentioned, when she stands up to them, well it's a great moment. I'm glad she has goals, including her dance career, as she pours her heart and soul into it. Her love for ballet was truly inspiring. I'm not familiar with ballet but did participate in another type of dance. Starting at the age of 3, until a few years ago, I performed and understand the concentration and how the lack of it can just make whatever dance you are doing. feel imbalanced, and you can feel like you can never make it back, and Candace does make it back to her love of ballet. I relate to how she feels, when on stage, it's just you and you can't really see the others in the audience as you're just in some other place with your dance.

The characters were all written in a way, that they made me feel like they would be someone I would know or they reminded me of one of my own friends. This story is all in Candace's POV, except in the very very beginning, but I liked reading her story, through her voice, and I think you will too, but I'm not going to lie; I definitely would have liked to read Ryan's POV too :) Now to Ryan... I think I developed a little book crush on him, and it's rare for me to do that, but Ryan seems like a great guy, and pretty hot too :) He and Candace start out as friends, but to them it feels natural that they would move onto something deeper, and I liked that; that their is a build up. Each story to me, is of course unique, and sometimes in romances, there is a fast connection, and I like that too, but here in this story, I think the Author did a great job of what works in her story, and there is a build up to a meaningful and hot romance. Ryan has some issues of his own, and you will read about them, but really he is the perfect guy for Candace.

There is something that happens, and throughout the story, if you are really paying attention to the very beginning, you will wonder when a "truth" comes out, and that truth does threaten Ryan's and Candace's relationship, and you have to read for yourself to read what happens, if they make it, or break things off. I don't want to give too much but I was worried but glad how things eventually went. I'm really curious about Ryan's story like, if its going to be from his POV from the whole time period of this story or is there going to be a continuation of this story? It seems like its going to be from his POV but either way I look forward to it because I love this story and the characters and can't wait to read more about them. I also can't wait to read Jase's story too, as I loved his relationship with Mark, in this one, and just look forward to revisiting these characters again :)

My Rating: 5/5 (Yup, I really loved it!)
I say R-Rated as there is a Rape Scene, some Language and Sexual Situations.

Yup, another Update....

Hey everyone. Hope you are all enjoying summer break :)

This is just another update. This summer, I won't be participating in many blog tours, because I just don't have that extra pocket of time, and I still have Reviews to catch up on from previous blog tours, so this summer, you will see a few new Blog Tour Posts and other Book Reviews, a few times a week. From the 23rd to the 27th of June, there will be four blog tour posts on this blog. There will be two new reviews, and there will be two that I will post soon; I just don't think I will read those fast enough before my dates.

Again, I haven't found the time to update this blog, and that will be happening...sometime this summer. These past couple of months, I've just been super stressful (the neck pain I receive occasionally & headaches does not help either), and without getting personal, I'm just dealing with a few  personal matters, and I just started a course for summer semester, so reading books and even writing my WIP have been the last things on my to do list, so that's been a bummer because I really want to be further along with my book, but that will have to wait a little more. I still have a lot of e-mails to catch up on, and seeing how many emails I have is crazy, but I will answer as much as I can each week.

Giveaways...I have to still pick winners for some, so that will be happening later this week, early next week. I do have one going on right now: The Englishman By: Nina Lewis. Click below to check that one out:

http://myloveforfilmsandnovels.blogspot.com/2013/06/the-englishman-by-nina-lewis-promo-post.html

Ummm....I guess that's it right now. There is one blog tour post that I forgot to post earlier this month (ah not good!) but I will post that this weekend.

Have a great weekend!

ISBN: 162342012
Event organized by: Literati Literature Lovers http://literatiliteraturelovers.com

Book Description
Anna has landed her dream job as an Assistant Professor of English literature at a prestigious college in the South. Instead of charging ahead with her career, however, she is confronted by hurdles, pitfalls and mysteries. Why does no one restrain the demented hoarder who secretly uses her office as his private storeroom? Who is responsible for her sudden loss in salary? What is behind the vandalism in her department? Is it a personal attack against her irreverent and somewhat unconventional teaching style?

Professor Giles Cleveland is supposed to mentor her in all this, but he’s arrogant, sardonic, condescending, disconcertingly attractive and – Anna keeps reminding herself as the temptation to start a kamikaze affair with him becomes overwhelming – absolutely out of bounds. Anna and Giles grow increasingly reckless and it is only a matter of time before they will be caught and Anna’s career will crash and burn. But when the crash comes, it’s worse than Anna imagined. And far better than she could have dreamed.

Six Fun Facts about The Author

1) I don’t write at a desk but on a sofa, hunched over a low table with my notebook on it. Often, one of my cats (sixteen-pounders, both) wants to sit on my lap. Sweet, but very bad for my back, and their hairs stick to the screen and keyboard. (TMI?)

2) Inspiration hits me in the shower, in the car, between waking and sleeping – whenever I don’t have pen and paper handy.

3) The last time I cried in the cinema was during the voting scene in Lincoln. The pathos! The idealism!

4) The first adult romance I read, when I was about eleven, was Kathleen E. Woodiwiss’ Shanna. It came as a serial in the women’s mag my mother took, and I hid the back copies in my wardrobe and read them secretly – with red ears! When I read it again years later I was shocked to find how much it had influenced my teenage ideas about love and sex.

5) When my publisher found my story on the internet and offered to publish it, the only romance authors I had ever read were Jane Austen, Georgette Heyer, and Kathleen E. Woodiwiss. That explains a lot, I’m afraid.

6) If I went over to the Dark Side, I would be an animal rights terrorist. (No fun. But a fact.)

Book Excerpt

[Giles and Anna meet for the first time]

“Giles, I’ve brought our new assistant professor to meet you. Anna Lieberman.”
“Professor Cleveland…”
In a split second I debate with myself whether to extend my hand or not, and decide on a gut feeling that I will not. Reserve seems a better strategy here than familiarity. He sits at his desk—not a particularly tidy desk—and looks reluctant even to rise from his chair, let alone to shake my hand. Eventually he does get up, and my heart beats faster, nervousness becoming tinged with alarm. Tall I knew him to be, but up close his six foot something tower above my five foot four like Gandalf over a Hobbit. A Celt, with light eyes and dark hair gone prematurely gray. There is nothing remarkable about his appearance, except that a tall man, halfway between gangly and gaunt, will always look good in light brown cotton pants and a blue shirt, open at the neck and rolled up at the sleeves. Next to him I look like a complete klutz. I am furious that I have allowed Elizabeth Mayfield to put me at such a disadvantage.
I nerve myself to smile up into his face. His features are lean and regular but not wildly handsome, and there is nothing charming about him at all when he looks down at me—on me, too—with that particularly English brand of polite dislike and says,
“Dr. Lieberman. How do you do. I was…told of your appointment.”
The sound of that well-educated, faintly nasal English voice hits me in the middle of my body and contracts the muscles of my womb in a spasm of response.
I feel a spate of explanations and justifications rushing to my tongue. I want him to know that although I have been foisted on him I am sure that we will get along well, that I will do my best to honor the confidence the college has shown in me. But I say none of these things. Could not, because my tongue is in knots; and do not want to, either, suddenly, because he is so pompous and unwelcoming to a junior colleague who really cannot help the situation at all.
“How do you do, sir.”
He blinks, as if taken aback. “I assume you’ve been well looked after?”
“Yes, sir, thank you.”
“Right. Well, then…” Get the hell outta here, bitch. He does not say it out loud, but I can see the words forming behind his forehead. Evidently Cleveland hasn’t been told yet that he is to play Mother Goose to this gosling.
“Can you spare a few minutes, Giles? The least we can do is make sure Anna has a smooth start, and I was hoping you’d show her the ropes.” There is an edge in Elizabeth’s voice now, a note of admonishment, and he hears it and, to my surprise, heeds it. He comes down from his high horse and suddenly looks very much younger. At a loss, almost vulnerable, with his soft gray hair curling in wisps behind his ears, and his broad, lean, boyish shoulders. The man is a chameleon.
“By all means. Dr. Lieberman, won’t you sit down?”
It is all I can do not to clutch Elizabeth’s skirt to beg her not to leave me alone with him, but she closes the door behind herself and we are alone. In very non-companionable silence. He points toward the sofa, which has clearly been chosen to make people feel small. Its seat is very deep, so I can either perch on the edge, looking nervous, or sit back, in which case my feet will hardly touch the floor and I will look like a five-year-old. I choose a mid-position, put my bunch of keys on the low table in front of me and hope Cleveland will not see my hairy little Hobbit-feet.
He stands over me, reluctant, a very remote fortress. Isengard.

About the Author
Nina Lewis wrote her first story when she was nine years old, a drama of love and jealousy set in a circus. Her best friend and she performed it to themselves over and over again, for ever changing the dialogue, conflicts and endings. It strikes her as ironically appropriate that her first published novel is set on a college campus – the habitat of many a strange, loveable or fierce creature. When she isn’t busy training animals to jump through the hoops of college education, Nina is knee-deep in her second novel, which is set in England during the French Revolution – historical romance being her favourite genre of fiction.

AUTHOR BIO
Michelle Kemper Brownlow has been a storyteller her entire life. Her debut was on the high school cheerleading bus granting requests to re-tell her most embarrassing moments for a gaggle of hysterical squadmates.

Earning her Bachelor’s degree from Penn State University in Art Education and then marrying her very own “Jake,” she moved to Binghamton, NY where she taught high school. After having two children she quit work and finished her Master’s degree in Elementary Education at Binghamton University.

The Brownlow family of four moved to Michelle’s hometown of Morgantown, PA while the children were still quite young. A few years after moving, her family grew by one when they welcomed a baby into their home through the gift of adoption. The family still resides in PA, just miles from where that high school cheer bus was parked.

Michelle has been an artist for as long as she can remember, always choosing pencils and crayons over toys and puzzles. As a freelance illustrator, her simple characters play the starring roles in numerous emergent reader books published by Reading Reading Books.

“Writing is my way of making sense of the world. When I give my characters life on the pages I write, it frees up space in my mind to welcome in new stories that are begging to be told,” says Brownlow
