Arouse & Allure (Spiral of Bliss #1 & #2) By: Nina Lane *Mini Reviews*

Goodreads Description

"One day I'm going to touch you in a thousand different ways and show you how to touch me," he said.

And he did.

Struggling with a tormented past, undergraduate Olivia Winter once led a practical but isolated life. Then she met Professor Dean West, a brilliant scholar of medieval history who melted Liv's inhibitions and taught her the meaning of both love and erotic pleasure.

But after three years of a blissful, lusty marriage, Liv and Dean now face a crisis that threatens everything they believe about each other as dark secrets and temptations rise to the surface.

My Mini Review

I'm so happy that I was finally able to start this trilogy with book 1. I've been itching to read this for some time. Being a part of the Blog Tour for Book 3 finally made me read book 1 & 2 and again I'm so glad I did. By the end of this book, I literally, within seconds, turned to read book 2. This story is addictive and that starts out with how well this story of Liv and Dean is written. Really, Lane is a true artist with words and just telling a wonderful love story. And it's not just a love story, oh no, there are tough situations that try to rip this couple a part. Without giving too much, I just want to say that reading this story of an already married couple was refreshing because I usually read stories that have the lovers meet and so on so that was uniquely different to read and it works out well as Lane shows us flashbacks so don't worry, you will read how these two meet and a lot more. The characters, especially Liv and Dean, are just again written so well. This story is captivating and there are realistic elements here so for me, that also sold me to continue on with this flowing story. Read this, if you want to get addicted to a true love story!

My Rating: 4.7/5
Rated R! (Strong Sexual Content and Some Language)

Goodreads Description

BOOK TWO IN NINA LANE'S BESTSELLING SPIRAL OF BLISS SERIES "We both want this so badly. I can feel it resonating between us like the hot pull of our first attraction, tangible and intense."

After lies and betrayal almost destroy their marriage, Dean and Olivia West reignite their blissful passion. The medieval history professor and his cherished wife are determined to fix their mistakes and fall madly in love all over again.

Then a family crisis forces Dean back into a feud with his parents and siblings, dredging up guilt over a painful family secret. Liv and Dean have battled obstacles together before, but with bitter family conflicts now endangering their fragile intimacy, they soon must struggle with events that could damage them in ways they had never imagined.

My Mini Review
(There might be spoilers so watch out!)

This story starts around the same month when book 1 ended. Liv and Dean know that they have a little someone coming that will change their lives forever. And due to a family situation, the couple go to Dean's estranged family, and well you might guess there is some conflict that might arise, and without giving too much away, there are some new tensions that rock Dean and Liv's world that can ruin their lives forever. There is a whole lot of different situations in this story, so if you have read book 1, you will love this one, you will because you just want to know what happens with this married couple's life, just like I did. Again you will see some realistic elements and how they play out, so hope you get addicted again to this story!

My Rating: 4.3/5
Rated R! (Strong Sexual Content, Some Language & Just A Little Violence, like one scene really)

Blue Lines (Nashville Assassins #4) By: Toni Aleo *Review & Tour-Wide Giveaway*

Blurb

Opposites do more than just attract in Toni Aleo’s latest Nashville Assassins novel about a very bad boy and the good girl he can’t resist.

The instant Piper Allen sees Erik Titov, she wants him—wants his rock-hard body, sure, but the strength and mystery that lies behind that superstar hockey jock demeanor, too. So when he sidles up to her at a bar and slinks his arm around her waist, she’s lost. What follows is the wildest night of her life . . . followed by inevitable heartbreak the next morning. And then, a few weeks later, a very big surprise: two blue lines on a pregnancy test.

Only a check to the head could make Erik fall for a nice girl like Piper. But since their crazy-sexy night together, he’s been trying to forget about her alluring body by falling into bed with every woman in Nashville, and it’s not working. So when Piper shows up at his house with a baby-bomb to drop, it doesn’t take much for Erik to suggest the nuclear option: marriage. While it’s supposed to be all for show, the second they say “I do,” the ice between them starts to melt into sizzling steam.

Includes a special message from the editor, as well as excerpts from these Loveswept titles: Taking Shots, Trying to Score, and Empty Net.

Title: The Weight of Words (Weight of Words #1)

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Publisher: Omnific Publishing

Aubrey Price is in the final months of her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto. Bright, witty and fiercely independent, Aubrey works part-time for the college Dean and has her sights set on graduating with distinction. When she meets Dean Grant’s son, Daniel, the TA in her senior Shakespearean studies course, a shared love of the Bard’s works and an instant mutual attraction draw Aubrey and Daniel together. Unfortunately, a strict anti-fraternizing policy, made more perilous by a black mark on Daniel’s record, keeps them apart.

Against this academic backdrop, Aubrey and Daniel navigate their way through a steamy courtship, their forbidden romance aided, abetted and sometimes thwarted by a colorful cast of friends, family and classmates.

 My Review
(Thank you to the Author/Publisher for providing a ARC)

First, I would love to applaud the Author for being an awesome writer. I loved this story even more because of the writing. Everything flowed really well. The settings made me feel like I was there, especially the college campus and the areas around that. I loved that each chapter started with a verse or a quote from one of Shakespeare's plays and the story revolving Shakespeare as there is a class about The Bard was pretty nice. I love reading scenes that include a class including Literature ones because it reminds me of my own classes since I'm a college student :) Shakespeare definitely blended into the story well and I love how well it was included so the Author did a great job in doing that.

Now, the story...it was purely enjoyable. I have not been reading that many novels due to a heavy load of work in my classes this semester, but this story was surely a nice distraction. In a sense I felt that this reminded me of another wonderful story, Gabriel's Inferno, because of the teacher and student relationship and it being located in Canada but this one definitely has it's own freshness to the plot so that also kept me turning the pages. I liked Aubrey as to me she seems like a realistic character that doesn't have a great family life but she puts all her energy into her school work. Her crush towards TA Daniel seems natural and her feelings did not seem over the top, but to me, it just seems natural as we get descriptions including physical ones of Daniel and who wouldn't have a crush on him? I will write that this story goes beyond crushes as Daniel reveals that he likes Aubrey very much but....they got a dilemma with the TA and student thing so they basically cannot pursue a real relationship until fifty or so days pass so this is one of the struggles that they face, will they make it?

Again this story was really great with so many supporting characters including Aubrey's best friends and Daniel's family. They helped me to really get a bigger idea of what Aubrey and Daniel are like. I so did not want this story to end. I think where it stopped seemed appropriate because there are going to being two more books (very happy about this!!!) so after learning about that, I'm good. Everyone who is interested in this book, do read it! I am now looking forward to book 2 & 3 and after you read this so will you :)

My Review: 4.5/5
I say PG-13 (There is Adult language and Adult Content)

Steamy, sassy and tender, Tattoo Thief is a story of breaking from a comfort zone to find a second chance.

Book Excerpt
Setup: Gavin Slater, front man for the white-hot rock band Tattoo Thief, trashed his penthouse and fled the country. His house sitter, Beryl, is stuck cleaning up the mess and must move into his apartment to take care of his dog. But her curiosity drives her to dig deeper to find out why he fled and what can bring him back.

I’m getting a little obsessed with Gavin Slater because I’m living his life by proxy: his home, his dog, his stuff. I search YouTube and find a video of his interview on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
“So what inspires you? What drives your music?” Jimmy asks.
Gavin looks down at his shoes for a beat, and I can see his biceps flex under a thin, tight T-shirt.
“What doesn’t inspire me?” Gavin grins, and runs a hand through his hair, spiking it even higher. “Life is music, and music is life. Music is the most important thing. And I can find inspiration in the smallest little things, like the way she sighs when she’s sleeping.”
“She? So is there a woman driving this inspiration?” Fallon sits forward, eager for the answer, and I find myself leaning forward too.
“It’s hardly a secret,” Gavin reaches across the host’s desk and taps a CD case with the picture of a woman, lion-scratched and bloody. I recognize the cover art for Beast.
“So you’re taken? That’s what the ladies here want to know.” The camera cuts to a shot of the audience and I hear shrieks from Gavin’s ardent fans.
“I’m taken by her. And I’m taken with a lot of women. Let’s not make anything too official.” Gavin smirks and I sour. Players—they’re not for me.
“So what’ll it take to settle you down?” Fallon nails it, the question I’m sure a million girls are asking. Including me. But a cloud passes over Gavin’s face and for a fraction of a second he looks lost.
“Chemistry,” Gavin says, and plays another bad-boy card with the sex-charged innuendo. “And physics.”
Fallon stutters; not much surprises him. “Physics?”
“Yeah,” Gavin hunches forward, his elbows on his knees. It’s confession time, and I really listen. “Physics. Newton’s third law says, ‘for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.’ And that’s what I’m looking for. My opposite, and my equal.”
I watch as Gavin’s band plays “Peace of Madness” on Fallon and scan the crowd shots for the woman on the CD cover. I don’t see her, but I do see Gavin working the mic, the cords on his neck straining, his jeans hanging dangerously low off chiseled hips. A close-up shot of his pale blue eyes arrests me.
Finally, I close my laptop and breathe deeply, calming my racing heartbeat. Now that I’ve seen Gavin Slater in action—albeit on my laptop screen—I’m even more charged by him than before.
But something runs deeper than lust, though that’s certainly what’s got my chest heaving right now. What is it? Intrigue? Fascination?
I can’t tell if crushing on Gavin Slater is fangirl crazy-talk or some kind of stalkerish need to know. Either way, it’s bad. I can’t understand why he’s gone from a confident player to a freak show, with a trashed apartment, abandoned dog, and scant communication with the real world.
Where the hell is he? It makes no sense.
I resolve to push my fixation to the furthest corners of my mind and focus on my new clients and my growing business.
Not on fixing Gavin Slater. He’s broken.
